What is the color of the sand What is the content of this sand? Does it contain arsenic and heavy metals, or not? In other words, is it safe for filtering drinking water too? High to low rating Low to high rating I bought two bags of this stuff for my 90 gallon aquarium. I started to rinse it but noticed I didn't have to so I added it all to the tank and within a couple days the water was crystal clear.
If your looking for an aquarium sand that is really white instead of tan or brownish I would get this. Compared to pet stores this stuff is a lot cheaper too. Just recently switched over to a sand filter and put a couple 50 pound bags in and this filter sand works great! I've experienced no issues so far (aside from the tedious task of adding the sand to my filter) but it's been the best move i've made this swim season. I would recommend this to anyone considering a sand filter purchase. Very good sand for filter. I had ordered from ace hardware and after a week they decided to tell me they couldn't get it. Ordered thru Walmart from in the swim and not by the fact of Walmart, fed ex delivered to the wrong address and after another week I finally received it I bought this sand for my 3000 GPH Intex sand filter because it was supposed to be the best. No one - not the sand company, the filter company or In the Swim told me I needed to use only half the recommended amount. Now, I wind up with sand in my pool every time the filter comes on.
I've had to remove about half of the sand from the filter and it still does it! The size of the sand is too small and the customer support was not good. Purchased this for my Intex sand filter pump.... 2150 GPH hoping for a better sand. I put the sand in per my instruction manual and started the pump. I still unfortunately have sand in my pool but not like I did with the Sand I used last year. Last year I vacuumed every other day due to the sand piles. This year I vacuum every week to week and 1/2. I only get about 1/2 cup of sand now verses the 2 cups every other day last year. Some of the Sand particles are still to small, but the bag doesn't indicate the size only that its 20 grade sand. But I would recommend this brand over others I have used. It filters well and keeps my pool clean. I would buy again. Works great in the new pool pump that I just bought. I used one bag of sand in my filter and no matter what I do the sand keeps on blowing into my pool. I only filled the filter halfway as suggested by the manual but nothing I do is stopping the sand from getting in my pool
