I didn't think it would get that much dirt out but it does! Each time I clean my carpet with it I see less dirty water. I clean my apartment often so I guess this is a good sign it's doing it's job. I do wish the tank was bigger at the current price but hey no complaints here. This machine works and is easy to store unlike the one we just threw out after I had it 17 years! It was one of the proheat steamers. My husband had a Kirby that died after 15 or so years and he turned his nose up to my Bissel.

As per other reviews, I strongly recommend that you vacuum the carpets first. Love the weight of the machine, light but strong enough to get the job done. Just bought this after my other Bissell carpet cleaner died after 11 years. This model is less convenient than the last one - because the canister gets very slippery,as my hands are always wet when using - therefore, it takes 2 hands to carry it back to the machine after filling. It does a good job cleaning the carpets, though, and I'm quite satisfied that the overall price per cleaning is very reasonable. Replaced my Bissell Carpet Cleaner after many years of use. This replacement model is very easy to install. I did it myself. It is light weight and it so easy to use and clean. My white carpets are now beautiful again after many people were at my house after my aunt's funeral. Our last cleaner died and with four pets, kids and a hubby who's a mechanic, my carpets get filthy quick! I have a tan Berber carpet that was almost black by the time I finally got this and boy was I impressed!

I think it actually did better than my last one that was more expensive! The only issue I have and its a big one, because it's so low, something on the bottom is catching loops of the carpet and pulling it up so I had to stop mid way to cut pieces of carpeting that it yanked out! But other than that I am really happy. Thankfully we're moving soon so I can use it again, lol I purchased this carpet cleaner in the spring of 2012, and was very excited to use it. I have used it off and on since then and it does a good job, the problem I do have is the handle would slide off when the solution tank was on the back so I just took it apart again and rescrewed the screws back in so that solved that problem, now I go to use my cleaner to clean small high traffic area before new furniture can be delivered and when I put my solution tank on the back solution is just leaking all down the back of the machine on to the carpet making it overly wet..me and my mother in law try to see what we can do but it just keeps doing it which I just gave up.

Thinking I could just rent a rug doctor for my townhouse. I knew I wanted a bissel but they all seemed so expensive but I really didn't want bulky either. Already I have owned the Bissell Power force bagless since 2008 and it has shown no signs of giving up. (Very hard to find filters though) This carpet cleaner exceeded my expectations and more!!! Thank you for making quality products! PS my only complaint is there is no tool for the stairs and furniture. I was a little concerned that buying a less expensive machine might mean less effectiveness. Was I ever wrong! This lightweight machine cleaned my hallway carpet just as well, if not better, than another brand that I had which was three times more expensive.
