Reel Innovations, LLCComing up next... Space... the Final Frontier. We pioneered the Ceiling Mount Vacuum Reels years ago. But their popularity dropped off when we designed the taller, narrower vacuum reels that saved several inches of width as a result of their being taller and narrower. In the last two weeks, we have had inquiries to see if we could install our Standard Height (50" diameter) vacuum reels with electric rewind, at the ceiling of GMC cargo vans. Since our reel are so tall, we didn't think it could be done. But we have designed a way to accomplish this. And in GMC vans in particular, the vans are built strong enough to allow for secure placement this way. (We do not feel confident about Dodge ProMasters and Ford Transit mid and high- roofs for this placement.) The Vacuum Reel Ceiling Mount kit for GMC vans allows our vacuum reels to be about 3" closer to the wall than could be done otherwise, which provides for approximately 6" total gain of floor width (since the frame does not touch the floor on either side of the reel).
And since our Standard Height Vacuum Reels are 4" narrower than other reels, the net gain of this combination results in a gain of 10" of floor width, compared to using other reels mounted on the GMC Van floor. As an example: A 250 ft. Capacity Standard Height Vacuum Reel has a 16.6" wide "frame width". That width is effectively reduced to 13.5" wide, once the reel is hung at the rear ceiling. In other words, measure 13.5" from your wheel well outward, to get an idea of how this compares to your present set up. Then subtract yet another 3", for the side of the frame that is not taking up floor space at the center of the van. A 300 ft. reel would add 4" to the above figures. And this can be done with a Triangle Reel Configuration featuring 2 Low Profile Supply Reels. See allReel Innovations, LLC added 2 new photos.Vacuum Reel Stand and Boom Mount for Narrow Profile Reels Our new Vacuum Reel Stands are designed to raise the height of our Vacuum Reels for 2 reasons: 1.) Raising the height of the Vacuum Reel can provide access space for storage under the reel.
2.) Three- leg Vacuum Reel Stands raise the height of the Vacuum Reel over the wheel well, and allow the Vacuum Reel to be located partially over the wheel well, rather than entirely beside the wheel well. (This provides for more space in the center of the van, since the Vacuum Reel is located closer to the wall than it could be, otherwise.) Boom Mounts are designed to be mounted to the underside of the Vacuum Reel Stand and position the supply reels up off of the floor, along with the Vacuum Reel. This ensures that the access space under the Vacuum Reel is not blocked from access from the vantage point of the location of the supply reels. An additional bonus of Boom- Mounted supply reels is that they are positioned slightly below the height of the Vacuum Reel. As a result, the alignment between the Vacuum Reel and Supply Reels is affected in a way that allows the supply reels to be slightly "under" and therefore, closer to the vacuum reel than could otherwise be positioned. This results in the overall combined length of the two being shorter than it could be otherwise.
Boom Mounts also provide for the addition of a Low Profile Supply Reel, located under the Boom- Mounted supply reels. This is a good choice for dual- wand systems, as it allows for each of the two Boom- Mounted supply reels to supply a different cleaning wand, while the Low Profile Supply Reel serves as an incoming water supply reel. Boom mounts are "open" from one end to the other. This provides a convenient and easily- accessible pathway to and from the supply reels for plumbing to be run, when live reel connections are installed.
