Cons Work-life balance, politics within the company Jan 22, 2017 I have been working at Stanley Steemer International full-time (More than 3 years) Pros Mostly friendly crew. Easy job, though repetitive and mundane at times. Field technical adviser is great.
Cons Branch management shows favoritism toward Latinos and racism toward blacks and whites. Discrimination against older workers, (50 years+). Very long hours for low pay, often below minimum wage as pay is primarily by commission. Expensive co-pays on insurance. Advice to Management Mid level management should take a more critical view of the numbers as they relate to the employees in regard to where a particular team is working and the type of job scheduled for each team. Points to focus on would be affluence of assigned locale, scheduled amount of the job, job redo rate of high net teams and customer satisfaction of these team's work and the shortage of equipment needed for each crew to be fully equipped and therefore able to do more work which allows for larger commissions. Dec 30, 2016 I worked at Stanley Steemer International full-time Pros Making money, meeting new people, sales experience, develop skills Cons Long hours, don't really have many cons about this job Is this helpful?
The community relies on everyone sharing – Add Anonymous Review Dec 7, 2016 I have been working at Stanley Steemer International full-time Pros If you learn the trade and apply yourself well you can make money. Cons Long hours, Unstable salary, quality isn't rewarded, nor the ability to keep current customers calling back. Advice to Management Have better training with follow ups, be consistent from assistant to branch manager. Add on is important but so is quality and retention. Sales shouldn't be the only thing compensated, ability to keep customers and have requests should be rewarded more, which would create a better environment and retain business while still adding. Dec 9, 2016 I have been working at Stanley Steemer International full-time (More than a year) Pros - always hiring so easy to get the job- set hours and days off- commission can be good if they're busy- managers were friendly and generally helpful- some flexibility with scheduling, so good second job or PT job for students Cons - low pay, there are many other centers that pay much more for similar work.
Commission is only $0.65 per $100 in sales- small center means no room for advancement- everyone loses 1 day from their schedule December through March- a lot of drama and gossip between employees and supervisors Advice to Management Let your current employees keep their full time hours instead of continually hiring. Higher pay would attract more experienced/reliable employees. Both of these things would help to reduce very high turnover rate. Nov 3, 2016 I worked at Stanley Steemer International full-time (More than a year) Pros Good hour's day goes by really fast easy work. Incentives are a plus. Cons Pro's outweigh the con's Advice to Management Hire less people That have Drug charge's, and cant drive due to DUI's Nov 15, 2016 I worked at Stanley Steemer International full-time Pros The company offers commission based pay but the amount of hours they make you work is ridiculous. You are not special to them, do not put yourself out there. Don't put yourself out here for the company.
No one cares about you. You are a slave to them. Sorry guys Advice to Management Screw you. Care about your employees. The Steemer in Memphis is a joke. Louie Sheppard can die in a hole for all I care. Oct 26, 2016 I worked at Stanley Steemer International full-time Pros Ability to travel see new things I was able to get certified and make them do things like carpet cleaning tile cleaning upholstery cleaning and water Restorations so pretty much it was a good job Cons The amount of reduce you have to go back on the other people might mess up on the job you have to go back and fix it for free not getting tips long drives from different houses customers complaining Advice to Management Avesta management Ruby being open to new ideas for easier ways to go about things or to do the job if a fast and efficient way or pay bonuses for a hard-earned work have a no seniority rule Oct 13, 2016 Pros - Lots of overtime available. Cons - Ending time of shift was inconsistent. Sep 29, 2016 I worked at Stanley Steemer International (More than 3 years) Pros You can make a decent amount of money if you have a knack for sales and can preform the labor in reasonable time.
You meet a lot of interesting people throughout the work week.Working there allows you learn the area in depth. You will know your way around the county. They do offer vacation time/pay. It's based of off off of your average two week pay total. (After two years of employment. The first year it is a low nominal amount) Cons Complete loss of personal time. I personally often had 13 - 14 hour days. 6 Day weeks (with a rotating Saturday off). There is no set hours other than the starting time. This makes it very difficult to take care of personal business without knowing way in advance.Your pay is soley commision based, so it your not good at longterm budgeting you can get into trouble. They offer insurance, but it's terrible. It's what a lot employers now offer. You know... insanely high deductibles coupled with unreasonably high premiums regardless of age or health. If you are a prideful person and are unable to pocket said pride, this isn't the place for you. You will certainly be treated poorly by some customers and management, and sometimes coworkers.
Though it's a commission position you end up doing work for free like: van & shop maintenance, redos (on your own jobs, wich is reasonable) redos(on coworker's jobs (wich is completely unreasonable)This particular branch treasures sales above all else. So if your quality oriented person don't expect a ton respect off that alone.Your treatment directly corralates to your recent sales average. If your having a down week or month expect smaller routes in the poorer parts of the county and probably some attitude from management. Advice to Management Be more selective about who you hire: This job as a whole is not rocket science, But the same time it's not as simple as it seems. Management should be more careful about who they hire and promote. In my time there they hired some really dense and/or lazy people, wich made it harder on everybody else there.Speak to your employees with the respect that's due.Pay your employees for any and all work that they do.Except that some customers simply don't have the means or willingness to spend extra money on extra services and products and don't punish your employees for that fact.
