I have the hoover power path pro carpet washer it will not pull the dirty water in reserve tankI had the same model and it will NOT suck up the dirty water. Return it and get the Turbo Scrub. Can i use this on berber carpet? Yes, you may have to go back over to ensure optimal extraction. How do I clean the brushes? I was able to pop out the round brushes but to remove the rectangle one I would have had to remove all I kept rotating the brush roll while pulling the carpet debris out. It cleaned them fairly good but not like a new. I did not have to remove them and the cleaning sufficed to me. Can you use any type of carpet cleaning solution for this product or do you HAVE to use the solution it comes with? I don't think you "have to" use the manufacturer brand, I know I always don't.
I do, however, try to pick a brand that states on the bottle "Safe for Bissell, Hoover, Rug Doctor", etc. Right now, I am using Resolve Pet solution and it works fine in this machine, and in other machines I've used in the past. I haven't experienced a machine failure due to chemical used, but more so just because the hoses dry up and rot or the pump itself dies, etc. If you are not going to use the machine for a long time, I would recommend spraying clean water through it to avoid potential hose clog-up's (this has happened to me).
